Jimmy Kimmel takes on the gaming community

Late last week Jimmy Kimmel ran a skit on his show making fun of gamers.  More so, how gamers use services like Twitch, and Youtube to watch video games be played. He also goes on to say that parents have failed because this has become a thing.  His original video is in the top 150 most disliked video’s on Youtube now, with at the time, is sitting at 88,155.   Here’s the original video.

Why he is missing the point:

Now people are wondering why this is such a big issue, and personally, I do not really believe it is.  It gives us a good look at what we are really doing.  But at the same time, is this not an extension of what the majority of people do with sports?  He points out why not just play the game yourself, well, we can umbrella that to anything.  Why watch Jimmy Kimmel? We can go be comedians ourselves.  Why watch the [insert major sporting event here], we can go outside and do it ourselves!   I know I am not the only one who has played video games with friends in the same room.   This is, and was a great way to hang out with people.  This falls into the same category, we are watching people play video games, the same way we are watching Jimmy Kimmel on TV, or the same way we watch TV in general.  It is the new and possibly next kind of content that will be feeding and melting our brains.

To make matters even worse, Kimmel has responded with two other videos directed towards gamers, both of which break the golden rule of never reading the comments.  Though my favorite line may be him trying to dig himself out of being able to watch basketball, because he cannot be in the NBA.
