Update: Microsoft has confirmed that Scalebound has been canceled. Their official statement reads:
After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound.” We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including “Halo Wars 2,” “Crackdown 3,” “State of Decay 2,” “Sea of Thieves” and other great experiences. Bad news. I'm hearing that @Scalebound is in trouble, possibly cancelled. Just rumours for now, but we'll see.

Kotaku then took the story and ran with it. Reaching out to Microsoft and received word that we would “hear more about Scalebound soon.” The game was removed and then re-added to the Xbox website with a “Pre-Order Coming Soon” tagline.
Scalebound has been in production for several years from Platinum Games, and was announced back at E3 2014. Under the direction of Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya.
