Target Leak Reveals Middle-Earth: Shadow of War

Update 2: Shadow of War has been officially announced!

Update: Target has removed the listings from their website.

A new game has just hit the Internet thanks to a leak from Target.   Middle Earth: Shadow of War appears to be the sequel to the popular Shadow of Middle Earth Lord Of The Rings game.

There are two editions being offered for pre-order right now: a gold edition, with an MSRP of $99.99 and a normal one, 59.99, similar to how the original game was released.  The Gold Edition item description (below) gives much more information than the normal one.  It appears that you will forge a new ring of power, and be able to control your very own army as you fight the power of Mordor.  It will also feature 4 story expansions and a Gold War Chest.  In total, apparently a $125 value.

The normal edition item description reads:

“Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth. ”

It is safe to assume that you will once again control Talion as he seeks revenge on the forces of Sauron to avenge the deaths of his family.  Though the descriptions raise questions about when the game takes place.  If he is attempting to forge a new Ring of Power, will this be a direct sequel to the first game, and is forging a ring of power as the wraiths, elves and dwarves carry. Or will this take place after the fall of Mordor, and he is attempting obtain more power.

Below are the current store item numbers for the various editions of the game, though these are subject to change of course.

Playstation 4: 207-34-1663

PlayStation 4 Gold: 207-34-1664

Xbox One: 207-32-1663

Xbox One Gold:  207-32-1664

Assuming this leak is true, Middle – Earth: Shadow of War will release on August 22, 2017 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems.
