Doomfist, a name that’s been circulating in the Overwatch community practically since the game was released, finally has an official release date. On July 27th he’ll be playable for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Doomfist was released earlier on the PTR and has already received a nerf, downsizing his Rocket Punch by about 20%. Now, I don’t necessarily find too much of an issue with the range he had in the past, since he’ll be melted anytime he tries to stop the overtime clock from receding; but that doesn’t mean that the nerf isn’t welcomed. With my time on the character, I found his Rocket Punch to be a little excessive and I would very rarely hit those punches from across the map.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Zarya, Reinhardt, McCree, and Reaper receive some buffs, some more impactful than others.
- Graviton Surge
Now disables all movement abilities of affect targets. This is similar to how Junkrat’s trap affects abilities.
Swing speed increased by ~10%. On top of the swing speed increase, we’ve gone through and tweaked many timings and other things about the Hammer to make it more responsive. Overall it should feel a lot better to swing and make contact with enemies.
Impacting another charging hero (Doomfist or Reinhardt) no longer deals damage to both characters, but still causes a knockdown on both.
Now slows targets significantly when they are stunned. This makes them less likely to slide away around a corner or something similar once they are stunned.
- Shadow Step
VO and SFX distance dramatically reduced.
