Sorry Grand Theft Auto fans, I’ve got some bad news about the heavily desired GTA 5 single player DLC. More often than not your favorite games are the ones that deliver exactly what you want: The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, all the way to remastered classics.
Sometimes dreams don’t come true; in a Mammoth Gamers exclusive we can confirm that GTA 5, the latest installment in Rockstar’s beloved franchise, will not be receiving single player DLC.
Although it had been floating about message boards, theorized, and even falsely confirmed at times that Rockstar would add to GTA 5’s exceptional storytelling and campaign, word from an inside source tells Mammoth Gamers that it’s not happening. A former Rockstar DLC developer who worked primarily on GTA 5 Online and subsequent DLC confirmed with Mammoth Gamers stating:
“There is absolutely no chance (of GTA 5 single player DLC); they simply make too much money by investing in GTA Online.”
Of course, there is no argument that GTA Online has been one of the best parts about the game, and it’s still dishing out creative and fun online DLC. With it’s strong, regular updates and new game modes, it’s no surprise that GTA Online still hosts millions of users everyday.
This news is sure to disappoint a large amount of fans who have experienced the DLC of yesteryear, specifically the downloadable content that followed games like GTA San Andreas and GTA 4. Sadly, it looks like we will have to wait for the next sequel to see what stories the Rockstar writers, and, possibly, the world of Los Santos will come up with next. For all things Grand Theft Auto, keep it locked to Mammoth Gamers.
