Lara Croft is back! The Tomb Raider has been on a roll as of late, with her reboot back in 2013 receiving critical acclaim and the sequel doing just as good, it looks like it’s time for Lara Croft to have another go on the big screen.
In the new film titled “Tomb Raider,” Lara follows her missing father’s final wishes and sets out to find a legendary tomb before longtime antagonists Trinity can use the Tombs power for their evil doings. The plot sounds like classic Tomb Raider.
The film is set to be inspired by the 2013 reboot. The first trailer shows Lara battling it out on a secluded island, struggling to survive with nothing but an axe and her unbelievable athleticism.
The film will be directed by Norwegian film director Roar Uthaug and will star Oscar winning actress Alicia Vikander. The cast also includes Dominic West from ‘The Wire,’ Walton Goggins from ‘The Shield’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ star Nick Frost.
As video game fans we have been lead on and let down many times with video game films. ‘Tomb Raider’ looks to be a blend of most recent video game installments and classic Hollywood action movies. Nevertheless, we are excited to see Lara leap back onto the big screen.
‘Tomb Raider’ is set to release March 2018.
