GameStop Reveals New Used Game Rental Program

GameStop has announced a program called PowerPass, a program that could give digital games a run for their money, as the company has begun to sit in the shadow of digital games recently. For $60 you can take out any pre-owned title you’d like and keep it for as long as you’d like during the six month period. The great thing is that the last game you play during the six month period is yours to keep! Pick up a game at your local GameStop, bring it back once you’re done and then grab a new one. Do this as many times as you’d like for the next six months.

There is a catch of course. Customers must be a PowerUp Rewards member in order for GameStop to track the rentals. The good thing is the PowerUp Rewards membership is free to all and can be set up at your local GameStop store.

The PowerPass program sign-ups begin November 19th. The service can also be gifted to a friend, but that friend must also be a PowerUp Rewards member to receive your gift. A good idea to release so close during the holiday season. This new service will surely be a hot ticket item this season. This is great for those who want to try a variety of games but don’t necessarily have the cash up front. No restrictions have been announced yet for the service.
