With the acquisition of Cold Iron Studios by FoxNext games, the studio is starting development of a new shooter set in universe of the Alien franchise. The development team is made up of several gaming industry veterans. With backgrounds ranging from Bioshock Infinite to Metroid Prime.

The reason for the acquisition was for 20th Century Fox to give video games the same level of business focus as they do for their movies. Fox spoke about the acquisition in a press release stating it was a “commitment to deliver new AAA offerings across numerous fan favorite properties and original games”.

Cold Iron Studios also had a press release where they stated “We believe in FoxNext’s vision and we are thrilled about the opportunity to explore an amazing and rich universe”. Cold Iron Studios also promised that this new title would take us to places in the Alien universe we haven’t seen before.

The last major game we received set in the Alien universe was 2014’s survival-horror game Alien: Isolation. Which was produced by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, who was previously the publishing holder for the Alien games in a deal with Fox.
