God of War Release Date Confirmed

God of War has finally been given a release date. Sony has confirmed on the Playstation Blog that God of War will be released on April 20th, 2018. Director Corey Barlog stated in his announcement:

“First, let me say that this is my favorite release day of my entire career. If I live to be 100, I do not think I will be able to top this release day. There has been a long journey just to reach this point, so it’s a little bittersweet to think that we are only a few months away from that journey finally coming to an end. While I am sad, I am also excited because it means everyone will get their hands on this crazy adventure we have been crafting for nearly five years!”

Players can grab two different editions: Standard or the Stonemason’s Edition. The Stonemason Edition features a plethora of goodies including:

  • The Full God of War game
  • 9” Kratos & Atreus Statue by Gentle Giant
  • Limited Edition Steelbook Case
  • 2” Huldra Brothers Carvings
  • Exclusive Lithograph
  • Cloth Map
  • Stone Mason’s Ring
  • Mimir’s Head Talking Keychain
  • 2’ Horse and Troll Cravings
  • Exclusive Digital Content

All of which should look great on any collectors shelf.

Sony has the tendency to release large exclusive titles on Fridays as opposed to the traditional Tuesday release. Soon we’ll be able to cut though Nordic baddies with our Leviathan Axe as we step into the new era of Sony’s hit franchise. Take a look at the story trailer at the top of the post.
