Avatar: The Last Airbender On Blu-Ray This Summer

It’s been nearly ten years since Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko left the airwaves on Nickelodeon. For the first time in the series’ history, the complete series for Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released in Blu-Ray format this summer.

IGN has an exclusive look at the new box art for the Blu-Ray boxed set, which depicts each of the aforementioned characters. The sleeve for the box art shows a lone Aang entering the Avatar State, adorned with stylized depictions of the elements of Water, Earth, Air, and Fire.

The Blu-Ray set will release exclusively to Best Buy beginning May 1st, and will then be available to other retailers beginning June 5th. The retail asking price for the Avatar: The Last Airbender Complete Series Blu-Ray set is valued at about $44.99.

To those unaware, Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the adventures of Team Avatar. The Avatar being an airbender boy named Aang, as he sets out to master the other elements in order to stop the evil Firelord Ozai from conquering the earth, and bring balance to the world. As the avatar’s journey unfolds he comes across a stubborn earthbender girl named Toph Beifong, and is pursued by the Firelord’s angsty, banished son Prince Zuko, along with his wise and cantankerous uncle Iroh.

Avatar: The Last Airbender became beloved by many, and the series went on to spawn video games, comic books, and even a successor show called The Legend of Korra, which also recently began its own comic book series.

This is excellent news for any fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The show’s artstyle alone was reason enough to bring this show into HD, and I’m so excited to hear that it’s finally happening. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to the series to get started. Which was your favorite episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender? Let us know in the comments below!

One of the biggest Star Wars fans there is. When I don't have one of many gaming peripherals in my hands I probably have my nose in a good book, out amiibo hunting, or contemplating (and never deciding) what game to pull off my shelf next!
