Nintendo has a couple of big projects in the works this upcoming year. A few months ago, Nintendo announced that they had a Mario animated movie in development, and Nintendo is now adding to their plans by introducing the Switch’s online services.
During a Q&A session, President Tatsumi Kimishima and executive officer Shinya Takahashi discussed their plans for the Switch. Kimishima stated that there will be “substantial resources” put into developing the online service for the Switch. The goal is for people to play more of Nintendo’s games and also to give players a bit more diversity in their experience.
Staying allusive, Kimishima says that this new service will put out “products” that consumers will enjoy. Kimishima promises to share more information during the announcement at a later date, as he asks for a little more time before he announces specific details. “I think the announcement will convey to you how we plan to popularise the service”, Kimishima says. Takahashi adds that they believe they have a way to make this paid service appealing to its consumers.
Mario Movie In Development
Nintendo went on to talk about the recently announced Mario movie that’s in development. The creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, says that he has been wanting to make a Mario movie for a long time, but Nintendo held off until they found a film expert worthy of the job. Still, Miyamoto says that they can back out of development at any time if they feel the script isn’t “interesting”. If all goes well, Miyamoto plans to release the Mario movie before the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
