It appears that the rumors of a new Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remastering have been all but confirmed by publishing company Activision. The remakes are speculated to be officially announced in March, according to an earlier Kotaku article.
In their recent investor report, Activision has expressed plans in renewing their old IP domains for the latter half of 2018. This means remasters of your favorite Activision franchises are likely to be made in the near future. Although those looking forward to those Tony Hawk Pro Skater sequels will unfortunately be disappointed, as the skating legend recently debunked theories of a new entry to the classic game series.
The Spyro Trilogy remaster will feature the three original Spyro games: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Much like the successful remastering of Crash Bandicoot in the N.Sane Trilogy, the Spyro remake will include updated graphics, models, music, and more!
Vicarious Visions will be in charge of the remakes, likely due to the positive reviews given to their previous work with the N.Sane Trilogy. The Spyro Trilogy remaster will likely be released in Q3 2018, as Activision’s report mentioned their intention of remaking series in the later half of 2018.
Our favorite purple dragon is returning to us, complete with modern graphics and newly rendered cutscenes! We at Mammoth Gamers can’t wait to take to the skies in an exciting and (somewhat) new adventure!
