Square Enix continues their revival of the classic game with a teaser for Valkyrie Profile Lenneth. Valkyrie Profile Lenneth was a PSP port of the original 1999 game: Valkyrie Profile. The teaser is Japanese with no English versions being present.
Valkyrie Profile is a side-scrolling action RPG for the PlayStation One by Tri-Ace. It draws influence from Norse mythology and was a critical success during its initial release. There have been several sequels since then, including Valkyrie Profile 2 and Valkyrie Profile Covenant. The franchises’ most recent endeavour was a mobile game by the name of Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin.
The teaser trail reveals no information about platform. There are no details about whether this is a full remake or a HD re-release. The trailer has the Valkyrie, presumably, talking over vague imagery. A teaser in every sense of the word.
Whatever this project ends up being, a 2019 release would make sense. That year will be the series’ 20th anniversary. Square recently celebrated Seiken Densetsu’s 25th anniversary with a remake of Secret of Mana. There was also a Seiken Densetsu collection for the Nintendo Switch, exclusive to Japan.
Some pleasing news for fans – the trailer suggests Motoi Sakabura is working on the music. He was the composer for the original game, so this is a good sign.
You can look at the trailer yourself above. Aside from the trailer, there is a new twitter exclusively for Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. This is in the same vein as the Seiken Densetsu 25th anniversary Twitter. At the time of writing, there is only one tweet in Japanese. A rough translation states that the twitter will be revealing information from today.
