The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia Joins Soulcalibur VI

After weeks of rumors, Bandai Namco has confirmed today that The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia will be joining Soulcalibur VI’s cast of characters. Along with his announcement, Bandai Namco has released a new gameplay trailer showing off our favorite Witcher in action.

Entering the stage of history, the legendary White Wolf brings his trademark fighting style combining swordplay, potions, and combat Signs. Wielding his signature steel and silver swords, Geralt is prepared to take on any form of man or monster. While the trailer doesn’t explain why Geralt has entered the Soulcalibur universe, he was able to bring his tools along with him.

On top of his swords, Geralt is armed with powerful Signs. From Igni to Axii, Geralt has the ability to unleash the devastating powers of Signs during combat. Each Sign provides the player with unique strategies to best your opponent or start powerful combos.

Not only is Geralt appearing as a fighter, he will also have his own stage based on the School of the Wolf castle of Kaer Morhen. The composition “Hunt or be Hunted” from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s soundtrack will also appear in Soulcalibur VI.

Geralt feels like a natural fit for the Soulcalibur series. From the looks of the gameplay trailer, it seems like the team is working hard to make Geralt move as naturally as he did in his own series.

With his Soulcalibur crossover, Geralt joins the likes of The Legend of Zelda’s Link, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, Star Wars’ Darth Vader and Yoda, and Assassin’s Creed Ezio as characters who has made guest appearances in the weapons-based fighting series.

Bandai Namco has confirmed nine characters – including Geralt – for the game’s roster so far: Ivy, Zasalamel, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Nightmare, Xianghua, Kilik, as well as Soulcalibur newcomer Grøh.

Witcher and Soulcalibur fans will be able to harness the mutagen fueled power of Geralt when Soulcalibur VI arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
