CD Projekt Red has hinted that The Witcher’s lead character, Geralt of Rivia may be about to make an appearance in another game, coming this year.
Community manager, Marcin Momot dropped the hint on Twitter today, asking everyone the anonymous question of “what if Geralt were to step out of The Witcher into another game coming this year?
This has sparked questions in the gaming community of “what if?” and “what does this mean?” Could this be some subtle hint that Geralt may be coming to an upcoming release? The answer may surprise you.
A few weeks ago, Lets Play Video Games have heard from an anonymous source that Geralt of Rivia will be appearing in Bandai Namco’s Soulcalibur VI. LPVG has stated that they required “further evidence” before they could continue the story, that was until Momot’s tweet added some fuel to the fire.
Shortly after the tweet, even more evidence has come pointing towards Geralt’s inclusion in Soulcalibur VI.
The official Soulcalibur Twitter released a video showcasing the current eight fighters included in their upcoming game. The clip ends asking the audience “who is next?” and to “stay tuned to find out”. This certainly means another fighter will be entering the stage of history sooner rather than later.
Soulcalibur VI would be the safest bet. It makes sense for several reasons: Bandai Namco and CD Projekt already have a relationship, helping distribute The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Not only that, but Soulcalibur has a history of hosting surprising guest characters over the years, including Link, Darth Vader, and Ezio Auditore. Geralt jumping into the ring wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary, nor would it be out of his character. A fighting game with swords and supernatural monsters? Who’s a better choose other than the White Wolf himself?
