New Mobile Action RPG Revealed By Nintendo

Nintendo has announced that it will be partnering with Cygames to develop a new mobile game. The game is titled Dragalia Lost and will be an action RPG for mobile devices. While the game will come out first in Japan, it is also scheduled for a worldwide release. The Nintendo of Japan news release states that Cygames is designing the game, while Nintendo will assist with development. Dragalia Lost will be released on both iOS and Android.

This is the second time Nintendo has partnered with another company to produce a mobile game. The first was Pokemon Go, a joint collaboration between Nintendo, the Pokemon Company and DeNA. While Nintendo has been intent on bringing their own IP to the mobile market, this will be their first new property.

In addition to this announcement, a new trailer has also been revealed. It’s a teaser trailer that shows off the characters and has a few snippets of gameplay. You can check it out above.

Cygames is experienced in the mobile department as they developed Granblue Fantasy, a popular title in Japan. They are also working with Platinum games on a new Granblue Fantasy action RPG for the PlayStation 4. Other than Granblue Fantasy, Cygames has also developed mobile game Rage of Bahamut and the digital TCG, Shadowverse.

Dragalia Lost shows Nintendo’s continued desire to break into the mobile market. They have had some successful ventures with games like Fire Emblem Heroes and Pokemon GO. The monetary incentive is there for them to make more mobile games. Partnering with experienced developers will ensure their products are able to cater to the nuances of this market.
