Star Wars Celebration May Return To Anaheim

It was about this time a year ago that I attended my first Star Wars Celebration, and goodness did I have the time of my life. By the will of the Force I was able to get some outstanding seats in the Galaxy Stage for the convention’s closing ceremonies. Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, did not shy away from the fact that Star Wars Celebration would return in 2019, much to a collective sigh from all of the fans present in the room.

Now a rumor has been circulating about where Star Wars Celebration 2019 will be held, including when in the year it will take place. A source affiliated with suggests that Star Wars Celebration 2019 will be held in Anaheim, California in the Fall of 2019.

At first glance there’s something familiar and foreign about the rumor. Firstly, Star Wars Celebration is no stranger to being held in Anaheim. The second, curious observation, is that the convention would begin during the Fall when, in the past, Celebration has typically been held in the Spring.

There could be a number of reasons for the supposed changes, but the most obvious would be that Star Wars Celebration 2019 could coincide with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which is the upcoming Star Wars theme park coming to both Disneyland and Disney World. Another thing to consider is that a Fall 2019 convention can also push the final trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX, which is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.

It stands to reason that we can (hopefully) catch glimpses into the cinematic future of the Star Wars brand, such as the anthology films, including the long rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film. What’s more is that we can possibly get a first glimpse at the successor animated show to Star Wars Rebels, the Rian Johnson trilogy, the Jon Favreau series, and the Game of Thrones showrunners’ series of Star Wars films.

As Master Yoda says, “Always in motion is the future.” It’s an exciting future full of possibilities to say the least. Having attended Star Wars Celebration before, I can attest to how fun and energetic the environment is. It’s all Star Wars, all the time.
