New Official Ant-Man and The Wasp Trailer Released

Less than a week after the cinematic release of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios chugs ahead by dropping the Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer number two. The trailer provides many interesting new details regarding the movie, such as appearance and abilities of the central villain.

It appears that in Ant-Man and the Wasp, the insectoid duo will be facing off against Ghost, a girl with a suit that allows her to become intangible at will. According to Michael Peña’s recurring character, Luis, Ghost stole her suit from Hank Pym’s (played by Michael Douglas) collection of advanced tech and now “ she wants to take over the world or whatever.”

Ghost, being played by Hannah John-Kamen in Ant-Man and The Wasp, is a minor villain in the Marvel universe whose suit allows for the wearer to become intangible or invisible, although not both at once. Her original comic book counterpart was an anarchistic man whose goals involved tearing down capitalistic superpowers, such as Stark Industries. The motives for Ghost’s movie character have yet to be defined, although they probably run deeper than that of typical “ruling the world” villains.

The Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer also exhibits more of the teamwork displayed by, well, Ant-Man and The Wasp, with The Wasp taking on a more authoritative role now that she has been given access to the frontlines of battle. The two collaborate in nearly perfect synch (with the occasional jab thrown at each other), so hopefully the lighthearted chemistry and charm the two character possessed in the first Ant-Man movie will be on full display in this sequel.

The film is scheduled to be released on July 16th, with director Peyton Reed reprising his role from the previous Ant-Man movie. Overall, the Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer has given us a lot to be excited about, especially in a post-Infinity War world.
