Sega has revealed the newest Sonic the Hedgehog game, making good on their teaser at SXSW of a Sonic racing title. Team Sonic Racing is a new Sonic-based racing title from Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed developer Sumo Digital releasing on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
While functionally similar to Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, Team Sonic Racing lets fans speed through circuits from the Sonic Universe with Sonic and 14 of his friends. Each character is broken down by class including Speed, Power, and Technique allowing for a different experience for each character and player. Every vehicle can be customized in both appearance and handling, so players can build the car that’s just right for them.
True to its name, Team Sonic Racing focuses on racing as a team. Racers will work together to get ahead of the competition. Players will be able to use various team moves to assist their teammates, knock out their opponents, and ultimately use a Team Ultimate to really heat up the competition.
Wisps will also make an appearance as items. Over 14 different offensive and defensive wisps will help you in overcoming rival teams.
Team Sonic Racing will feature various different modes for everyone to enjoy. Players can compete solo and experience a unique story mode in both Adventure mode and Team Adventure Mode. Players will put their rides to the test in 12 player online races. Complete with 4 player split screen, Team Sonic Racing will include Grand Prix, Time Trial, and Exhibition mode that can be played both online and offline.
Team Sonic Racing is set to release this winter on PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
