Job Listing Confirms Upcoming Diablo Project

Without any official announcement, a new Diablo project appears to be in the works.

A job listing on Blizzard’s official site confirms that they are hiring for a dungeon designer for a new, unannounced Diablo game. The listing, which can be found here, outright says “We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project.”

Whether that new project is for a proper sequel or a new type of game from the franchise remains to be seen, as very few details are provided as part of the job listing. Blizzard does detail that this new game will not lose what makes Diablo so popular as they’re looking for artists who are “passionate about working on the gothic world of Diablo, making great games, killing millions of monsters and getting loot.”

Diving deeper into this story, Blizzard is also looking for a Technical Artist, VFX Artist, Environment Artist, etc. This Diablo project is looking for tons of passionate artists so this upcoming game could be a bigger project than we anticipate. It’s also important to remember that Blizzard has listed jobs for this franchise with some frequency, including looking for a new game director in 2016 and a new art director back in 2015. If these listings are all related, we might be in store for some Diablo news soon.

Considering the blaseness with which it’s being referenced, and the timing of the job listing, it’s pretty unlikely this is a secret E3 announcement. Blizzard will likely announce the new Diablo game on their own terms and their own timing, maybe even during this year’s BlizzCon.

In the meantime, I’m going to sit here and hope that an announcement comes soon, maybe this new game will come to the Switch? Here’s hoping. Until then, Season 14 of Diablo III is right around the corner.
