The First Episode Of Life Is Strange 2 Comes This Fall

It looks like The Awesome Adventures Of Captain Spirit isn’t the only taste of Life Is Strange‘s universe we’re getting soon. The first episode of Life Is Strange 2, Dontnod Entertainment’s dramatic, story-heavy adventure game, will launch September 27th.

Publisher Square Enix revealed the premiere date alongside a teaser trailer, although the trailer doesn’t add any sort of context for the highly anticipated sequel.

What we do know is that Life Is Strange 2 will tell a story that unfurls over the course of five episodes, much like its 2015 predecessor. Here’s hoping that subsequent episodes launch far more quickly than those of the first season; Life Is Strange’s episodes rolled out over the course of nine months.

The timing of this reveal seems off, especially since Square Enix could have mentioned this last week during their uneventful E3 presentation. But with the free Life Is Strange side story Captain Spirit launching on June 26th, perhaps this was some marketing decision on the publisher’s part to put eyes on what’s coming next.

Captain Spirit will tie into the overarching story of Life Is Strange 2, although it remains unclear how. All we know is that neither game will take place in Arcadia Bay, where the first Life Is Strange was set, and that Captain Spirit’s short story will be “hiding many secrets and even some links to the new story of Life is Strange 2”.

As for other Life Is Strange content to tide you over until September, check out 2017’s prologue miniseries, Before the Storm. The three-episode storyline stars Chloe Price from the original game as well as her best friend Rachel Amber, who incites the incidents of Life Is Strange. There is also a bonus episode of Before the Storm featuring Chole and her childhood best friend, Max Caulfield.

Life is Strange 2 will be launching on September 27th.
