Kingdom Hearts III includes a Skrillex and Hikaru Utada Song

Earlier this year, Square Enix revealed the new Hikaru Utada track “Don’t Think Twice,” confirming the longstanding partnership with the Japanese singer would continue. Now, the company announced a new opening theme song for Kingdom Hearts III from Utada, and Grammy Award-winning artist Skrillex will join the collaboration.

Skrillex was originally set to remix the already announced track. But as the pair worked together, they decided to create an original track, titled “Face My Fears.”

The EDM producer is a lifelong Kingdom Hearts fan according to a press release. In addition, the appropriately named producer Poo Bear will join the two on making the track.

Kingdom Hearts has a long history with Utada. Her song “Simple and Clean” opened the first game in the series. The song has since been remixed many times for the series and is included in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. Series director Tetsuya Nomura sought out the singer once again for “Passion”/ “Sanctuary” which was the theme song for Kingdom Hearts II.

There’s been a lot of Kingdom Hearts news lately as Square Enix prepares the worldwide launch. Some members of the voice cast were revealed, including Haley Jole Osment returning as Sora. Nomura also revealed the box art alongside a new trailer featuring the world from Big Hero 6. Square also announced Kingdom Hearts VR Experience exclusively for PlayStation VR.

Kingdom Hearts III is set to launch on January 29, 2019. For more, stay tuned to Mammoth Gamers.
