With Uncharted 4 finally completed and moved on to gold press, there’s one title that Naughty Dog needs to move on to if they haven’t already and that title is The Last Of Us 2.
The Last Of Us pulled at every single heart string imaginable and it’s only natural that a sequel is made not only to satisfy the fans, but to further explore the story narrative.
For many people, The Last Of Us was one of the most captivating games ever done. It yielded many perfect scores and has one of the highest metacritic scores of all-time. So one would think that its only natural that a sequel is made right? Well, not exactly. Naughty Dog has yet to formally announce a sequel for the game despite pleads from the community, and media alike (including this article). Neil Drunkmann, the creative director and developer over at Naughty Dog was quoted last September from an interview on the Official PlayStation Magazine (GamesRadar+) by stating,
“There’s a part of me that’s really looking forward to going back to those things, but I have no cycles left in my mind even to be thinking about that right now!”
He does however continue saying this,
“We don’t know what we’re doing next and we won’t know until probably a few months after we finish Uncharted 4.”
And there lies in the keywords – “a few months after Uncharted 4.” With Uncharted 4 now completed, a few months from now would take us to about the May/June time frame which is right around E3. This would be the perfect stage to announce The Last Of Us 2 to the world if they are indeed planning on working on it next. The story would be wide open as far as where it could lead into, and the interest is definitely there. What are your thoughts? Should Naughty Dog’s next project be The Last Of Us 2 or should they move on to another project or possibly a brand new IP? Drop us a line, or leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
