The percentage of the new The Force Awakens character has been the subject of mass speculation before the movie was released. But J.J. Abrams has pulled another one of his stunts, feeding the fans just enough information to get The Force Awakens back into the limelight and light a renewed fire under the hardcore fans.
Speaking at the speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, J.J. Abrams revealed a surprising tidbit of information very casually:
“Rey’s parents are not in Episode VII. So I can’t possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too.”
He went on to say:
“Obviously it’s not for me to talk about in this moment because this is [Episode VIII director] Rian [Johnson]’s story to continue now,” Abrams continued. “The last thing I’m going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about. I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy that he showed me.”
Now this could not mean much, but it is enough to send the fans pouring over the previous movies and the new books to find information on all the possibilities. J.J. Abrams likes to tease fans every once in a while and just throw a bit of information out there that may or may not be correct. We will have to wait for Star Wars Episode VIII to release next year.
