In the world of The Walking Dead, split second decisions can be make the difference between life and death. One second, everything can be fine and completely calm while the next you are running for your life trying to figure out how to survive a dangerous encounter. And at the end of the day, you have to choose whether to get screwed or be screwed. That’s the overlying theme throughout this episode. All of these choices and consequences are what makes The Walking Dead Michonne Episode 2 Give No Shelter one of the most intense and impactful episodes of The Walking Dead that I’ve ever played.
The episode starts off exactly where the first episode ended but the resolution wasn’t as dramatic as expected. But don’t let that fool you one bit as the race to escape from the colony all bets are off as far as what happens next. Split second decisions become the difference of having one story line to a completely different resolve. The main objective for the crew is to escape from the colony but it won’t be easy as literally the entire colony joins the fight against Michonne, Sam, and Pete. Making matters worse, Pete begins to question a lot of Michonne’s decision making as well making things even more complicated while trying to survive.
Even after escaping the colony, Sam, Pete, and Michonne are under fire (literally) while fighting through walkers at the same time. The suspense only intensifies and becomes a race against time when one of the members gets critically injured as they continue to try to escape.
Michonne must deal with past demons and memories throughout the episode as well. Finding herself in hallousinations, we get an opportunity to play through part of the fateful night when Michonne lost her family. Some would argue that this tends to slow down the pacing of the main story arc however I believe that it added to the character development of Michonne and helped us understand where she’s been. It’s a nice touch that feels necessary.
But where The Walking Dead Michonne Episode 2 really shines is at the end of the episode. Michonne is faced with an ultimate choice and both outcomes as outlined by Randall pretty much screws her over, no matter what. And while the consequences of whatever decision you make are yet to be told (find out in the final climatic episode), there is no doubt that this major ripple in the story arc will define how the game comes to a climatic ending.
The Walking Dead Michonne Episode 2 Give No Shelter pulled at every intensity string in me and I couldn’t help to think that I wanted more. I can’t wait to see how the story will come to a close next episode as this is no doubt the most intense episode’s of The Walking Dead I’ve ever played. Do yourself a favor and play through this as soon as possible. The Walking Dead Michonne Episode 2 – Give No Shelter is available on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Android, and iOS.
