The OceanMaker

By Mighty Coconut

oceanmaker

A beautiful Mad Max style short that used real life desert and drought affected areas for the scenes and the science of cloud seeding. The setting is the future where water is a precious and valuable resource collected by siphoning moisture from clouds. One girl desperately tries to seed a cloud to cause a storm. This short is a silent movie style feature with daring aerial dog fighting, a moving soundtrack and simple yet heartfelt story of hope and sacrifice.

SpaceBound

By Ellen Su and Kyle Moy

Spacebound-Short-film-4

A story using the simple plot of a boy and his dog in space only with a extremely heartfelt twist. I loved this short because of its simplicity and the wonder of being a child playing with your best friend.

Rollin’ Safari Sleeping Beauty

By Rollin Wild

rollin wild

It wouldn’t be an internet based article without at least one cat film. Rollin’ Wild produced a series of shorts with the question ‘What if Animals were Round?’. Using images from safari documentaries each short has it’s own quinue twist. Sleeping Beauty fully captures the antics many see in their house cats almost every day.

A tale of two men fighting over a beautiful woman who is not all that she appears to be. Set in Japan this short uses Japanese folklore to tell a wonderful and hilarious tale.

When she is not trying to take over the world, Jess takes time to record video games and write articles.
