The latest entry in the Legend of Zelda series, Breath of the Wild, may be releasing in June of 2017. If these rumors are true, and the March launch window for Nintendo Switch remains, this would confirm that Breath of the Wild will be missing the launch of the Switch, leaving a heavy hitter out of the launch lineup to drive units into homes. Laura Kate Dale, a freelancer who allegedly has sources within Nintendo, sent out the following tweet the morning of November 23rd:
Spacing the Switch and Wii U versions seems like an odd move at first glance, but releasing the Switch version a week earlier may drive some fans to purchase a Switch versus settling for the Wii U version, potentially stabilizing the Switch user base a little. Laura Kate Dale has proven a reputable source of information in the past, so there is a good chance these rumors will be confirmed in the future. We likely won’t find out until January 12th, when Nintendo officially outlines details and features of the switch, as well as launch lineup and pricing. Until then, we will be left with rumors and inside stories to hold us over.
