After the critical success of the first Wonder Woman movie released in 2017, it was no surprise that the Amazonian warrior would grace the big screen again with an action-packed sequel.
Wonder Woman 2 has been confirmed for a while now, with a predicted release date of November 1st, 2019. Despite this, details on the film have been scarce, other than small tidbits such as Wonder Woman’s arch-nemesis, Cheetah, being the central antagonist. If things go according to schedule, production for the film will start begin summer.
Recently, however, director Patty Jenkins (continuing her role as director for the Wonder Woman franchise) has confirmed the time period for Wonder Woman 2: the 1980s. There has been some speculation about whether this means Diana will be facing off against Soviets, although this has little information supporting it.
The announcement was made during at Cinemacon during the Warner Bros.’ presentation. The studio has a lot on its plate for the 2018-2019 movie season, with an Aquaman movie and the highly anticipated IT sequel also being on the horizon.
Whatever direction this takes, if it manages to recreate a fraction of the intensity and thrill provided by the first Wonder Woman movie, Wonder Woman 2 is bound to be a fantastic theatre experience.
