After being leaked earlier this month by a Wal-Mart listing, Rage 2 has been officially announced. After responding coyly on social media to all the rumors, Bethesda has not only revealed the sequel, but has released a gameplay trailer to show off the game in action.
Bethesda says that you’ll be playing as a ranger named Walker, who has been robbed and left for dead by agents of The Authority. “You’ll have to rage for justice and freedom” as you take on gangs and a bloodthirsty authoritarian power.
“In Rage 2, you’ll dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. Rage 2 brings together a true open world FPS experience where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.”
The gameplay video shows off multiple distinct factions and various environments, including wide-open deserts and a dark jungle. Enemies include your Mad Max styled punks, mutants, gigantic, bloodthirsty monsters, and even larger mechs.
Rage 2 will feature a wide open world, insane action, and tons of guns. From the look of the gameplay trailer, it seems like players will be able to find trouble in this big open world driving cars, invading enemy turf, and blowing tons of stuff up.
The original game, Rage, was released in 2010 and developed by id Software. This time around, Rage 2 is being developed by both id and Avalanche Studios, the team behind the Just Cause series. Rage 2 has a release window for 2019, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
