In a spread in Japanese magazine V-Jump, Bandai Namco has revealed the next set of DLC characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ: Goku and Vegeta in their base forms.
The two characters are the non-Super Saiyan versions of the characters, with Goku and Vegeta sporting their original look and powers from Dragon Ball Z’s Saiyan Saga.
Goku has the power to use Kaioken to chain combos together, as well as a Super Spirit Bomb which is the strongest move in the game while also being exceptionally slow. Kaioken gets stronger by times 3 to times 20 with each KO’d partner on the team, functioning similarly to X-Factor for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Base Vegeta has his Galick Gun attack which can be used mid-air this time around. Vegeta will also use the Galaxy Breaker attack where he shoots energy out of his entire body. Unlike Goku, the V-Jump doesn’t detail the potential Vegeta has to a team. It’d be interesting to see him get his own special buff much like a Kaioken skill, maybe something involving his Saiyan Ape form. We’ll have to wait and see when these two characters drop next month.
The new DLC characters line up with a leak from earlier this year, indicating that the remaining DLC characters should be Android 17 and Cooler.
V-Jump also announced that the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball FighterZ will be getting a public beta in August with a 3v3 local battle feature, as well. It is not known if this beta is being held outside of Japan, but it’s likely Bandai Namco will have different dates for different regions.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version releasing on September 28.
