Two months after a behind-closed-doors demo, CD Projekt Red showed off a 48-minute walkthrough of Cyberpunk 2077, which you can watch below. Be aware of the mature nature of the video. This comes after the studio teased an announcement from an early morning stream.
The demo follows your character V and (in this case) her partner Jackie as they recover a missing person. After a successful recovery, V is asked to perform a test for a fixer known as Dexter Deshawn.
The demo showcases a number of mechanics that will be in Cyberpunk 2077. It begins with a character customization screen where you can choose your gender, skin tone, hairstyle, and makeup before putting points into different stats that will affect how you play.
Combat is shown throughout the video. The game is set in first-person, unlike CD Projekt Red’s previous series The Witcher. A variety of guns, such as a pistol, shotgun, and machine gun are shown in the demo. Many weapons will also have alt-fire functions such as a charged shotgun shot that deals more damage.
When not in a mission, you’ll get to walk through the open-world of Night City. Populated with citizens, vendors, vehicles, and side missions, CD Projekt Red has stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will have the density of The Witcher 3, but the map will be denser than their past games. Players will be able to explore the city in a vehicle as well.
Augmentations are a big focus of the game, and V was shown going into a shop to buy new upgrades for herself. These upgrades will give you new abilities, such as an improved zoom and scanning ability. V is eventually shown having the ability to wall climb and double jump due to the enhancements.
CD Projekt Red also stresses that the game can be played however you want. There are multiple decisions for each mission. You can go in guns blazing, sneak through buildings, and even take a pacifist route if you have the ability. Each choice will have an effect on the rest of the mission. Once you’ve completed a mission, your decisions and outcomes change how the rest of the world views you.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not have a release date currently. The developers have said they are targeting current generation platforms for launch. When we know more, we’ll keep you updated so stay tuned to Mammoth Gamers.
