Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC We All Wish We Could Get

Super Smash DLC Characters we all wish we could get:

My holiday season has been dominated by very few things: Black Mirror Bandersnatch, a ton of fattening food, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch.  Every night my roommates and I battle it out using our favorite characters and it always ends in someone saying, “Okay, I can do one more” before getting way too upset over losing and saying, “Okay, I can really do one more, and that’s it!” Even so, the game has officially been out for a month now and I can say with all confidence that I am ready for some new content in the game.  We already know that in the pipeline is the character Joker from Persona 5 and Piranha Plant from the Mario games, but what about the others? Rumors swirling show that we might get Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but not much else has surfaced about who could be next.  I say, who cares who might be next? Here is who I want to be playable characters for the upcoming DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:

  1. Gary from Pokemon Blue/Red

I know that this is out of left field and we already have Pokemon Trainer as a playable character, but I really think this one would be fun. Give me Gary throwing out Arcanine and Blastoise, making their powers combine and creating a crazy steam move.  Gary throwing Pokeballs at the speed of light or even performing his patented “Smell ya Later” as a fun little tidbit. Even if Gary is not the ultimate choice, I still think this would be fun as hell.

2)  Banjo-Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie

This one is not as far fetched. Derived from the amazingly strange N64 game Banjo-Kazooie, this character has seen zero love over the past 2 decades. What better way to honor this classic game than by adding the bear and bird protagonists into the mix? With a slew of moves already created in the game, all you would have to do is adapt them to the fighting styles of Smash.  Also, for all those 90s kids who love nostalgia, why not include one of the stranger characters to grace the Nintendo console?

3) Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7

One of the biggest bad guys in video game history would be a sweet addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. With Cloud already a part of the universe, this pick also makes sense. You could easily see what his strengths and weaknesses could be, how he would have sick range with his sword and, just like in the game, this dude could have a sick Up-B move with the black and white wings. Sephiroth is already in other games besides FFVII, such as Kingdom Hearts, but this would be the ultimate fan favorite if Nintendo would just give the people what they want.

4) James Bond from Goldeneye 007

This one is completely out of the box but I think it would be super cool. Going back into the N64 vault, Goldeneye was one of the most fun games on the system.  A four-way shootfest, which allowed people to play as an assortment of James Bond characters and duke it out.  James Bond would be an incredible addition to the list, for not only nostalgia, but also as one the greatest action heroes in cinema history.  If anyone could pull this off, it would be Nintendo. Already having the likes of Solid Snake, Bond would have a similar build and rely on the gadgets that made the franchise so famous.  I would take Bond in Smash, shaken or even stirred.

5) Joe from Viewtiful Joe

An incredible addition and one more homage to the past, Viewtiful Joe was an solidly fun game to play for the Gamecube.  Already a superhero, able to kick butt and take names, it would make sense once again for this character to make an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Joe is already in the Marvel vs. Capcom games, I believe that Smash would only make this character more exciting.  The unique art styles and the fun movements would cause for a challenge in the art department but I think that adding Joe to this list of all-stars would be fantastic.

With all that said, let us know if you agree or disagree with this list.  Anyone I missed (besides Waluigi….) Let us know on Twitter or Facebook! Be sure to check out Mammoth Gamers for all your video game opinions, reviews and news.
