Chucky’s Back and Ready to Play in New Child’s Play Trailer

Chucky’s Back and Ready to Play in New Child’s Play Trailer

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the toy store….Earlier today, MGM released the first look at the upcoming remake for Child’s Play, a slasher film with the red-headed doll from Hell at its center.

Lars Klevberg, an up and coming director, will be handling the remake of the classic 1988 classic slasher, and he has definitely brought Chucky to the modern age. Karen Barclay, played by Aubrey Plaza, gets her son, Andy (Gabriel Bateman) the latest iteration of Kasdan Corporation’s tech: the Buddi doll. With the team behind IT working on the remake, we have high hopes!

In the trailer, we see Chucky scan Andy’s face the moment he opens the box. And it is all downhill from there. Audiences can expect to see the same rage-filled Chucky, purely motivated by murder and mischief, but in this modern remake, the doll isn’t possessed by the soul of a mass murderer. It’s just technology that wants to murder us….

Child's Play

However, this does seem to be the year of the Chucky as their is also a television series in the works through SyFy. Don Mancini (Child’s Play, Hannibal)  is headlining the television project and told fans that the television series will be a continuation of the six original Child’s Play films. In an official SyFy statement, Mancini described the future show:

I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and SYFY is the perfect network for us. The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.

Child’s Play will hack and slash its way into theatres this summer on June 21, 2019.
