It’s that time of year again when everyone is distracted by chocolate, roses, and giant, fuzzy teddy bears: Valentine’s Day! Gamers are far from exempt from the fuzzy feelings of love from this time of year, and what better way to celebrate than by chatting about some of our favorite gaming couples. Love is love; so, these couples are in no particular order because they are all pretty amazing in their own, unique ways.

Gaming Couples

Mario and Peach

It would be impossible to talk about the best couples in gaming without mentioning the OG of gaming couples: Mario and Peach. Throughout time and space, the forces of evil are always working to separate these two lovebirds, but they always find their way back together again. Mario’s persistence in saving his favorite princess and Peach’s bubbly personality always leaves us rooting for these two.

Gaming Couples

Wanderer and Mono (Shadow of the Colossus)

When speaking of love, it is impossible to avoid heartbreak completely, and this is clear in the story of Wanderer and Mono. After the death of his beloved Mono, Wanderer goes to the ends of the Earth and takes on colossal tasks in hopes of resurrecting his lover. The grief-stricken Wanderer makes a deal with the demonic spirit, Dormin, to defeat 16 Colossi in order to bring Mono back to life. Unfortunately, Wanderer comes to an unfortunate end, but Dormin keeps his word and raises Mono from the dead.

Gaming Couples

Drake and Elena (Uncharted series)

Anyone who grew up loving the Indiana Jones franchise (like myself) totally sees the relationship goals that is Nathan and Elena Drake. While their relationship begins less than picture perfect, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End really shows how perfect Drake and Elena are for one another. Drake’s never-ending search for adventure and discovery is perfectly paired with Elena’s ability to get Drake out of trouble. Whether deep in the jungle or sitting on the couch playing Crash Bandicoot, Drake and Elena are perfect for one another.

Gaming Couples

You and Monika (Doki Doki Literature Club)

I’ll admit, this one might just be me, but no one can say Monika won’t go to the extreme for those she loves. While Doki Doki Literature Club is flush with cute, anime girls that will steal your interest, Monika definitely takes center stage- whether you want her to or not. Monika’s love leans more toward the creepy/insane side, but it is deep and true nonetheless.

Gaming Couples

John and Abigail Marston (Red Dead Redemption series)

Sigh. I almost didn’t want to include this one, especially after Red Dead Redemption 2, but John and Abigail have been through some stuff together. Through thick or thin, these two always find themselves brought back together again, and we constantly see them trying to better themselves and their family. After seeing just how greatly their relationship has evolved throughout the Red Dead series is enough to encourage any couple struggling with hardships.

Gaming couples

Honorable Mentions: Link and Zelda, Master Chief and Cortana, Snow and Bigby Wolf, Cloud and Tifa, Dom and Maria, you and most of the people in Stardew Valley, and Tidus and Yuna.
