Left 4 Dead Team Announces Back 4 Blood

The original development team behind Evolve and the Left 4 Dead franchise surprised fans with an exciting announcement today: the spiritual successor to the zombie FPS is in the works! According to Turtle Rock Studios, Back 4 Blood is a “next-gen cooperative FPS” made with fans of Left 4 Dead in mind.

The new title was officially announced earlier today on a FAQ forum on Turtle Rock’s website, but there are still more questions than answers. There have yet to be any plot details or additional information, but Turtle Rock says, “We are going back to our roots and at the same time innovating on them. We know we have some big shoes to fill, but we’re going all out to surpass everything we’ve done before.” In all reality, the only thing fans know at this point is that Back 4 Blood is not Left 4 Dead 3…At least not officially.

Turtle Rock detailed their excitement in the press release:

“It’s hard to overstate what an awesome opportunity this is. We get to return to a genre that was born in our studio with over ten years of additional experience and zombie ideas racked up in our brains,” said Chris Ashton, Co-founder and Design Director, Turtle Rock Studios. “We also have some of the best teammates in the business at WBIE who understand our development process and are equally committed to our player-first mentality. We love being able to announce, so we can start working with the community right away.”

Back 4 Blood promises to be everything that fans want while continuing to push the genre toward something even bigger and better. The obvious passion and excitement in Turtle Rock Studios’ press release is infectious, and they want to give their fans something new and exciting.
For now, all we can do it stay tuned for more information on Back 4 Blood, and we’re already thirsty for more! As Turtle Rock continues to announce information on their new IP, Mammoth Gamers will be there to cover it!
