The past couple of years have been especially good to the Castlevania franchise, with its well received Netflix series, as well as the inclusion of Simon and Richter Belmont in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, the classic series hasn’t finished its time in the limelight, with the announcement of a Castlevania Anniversary Collection by Konami.
In March, Konami announced that they would be releasing a Castlevania Anniversary Collection, along with two other game compilations, for the company’s 50 year anniversary. At the time, it was stated that eight games would be available to play in the collection, although only four of them were confirmed.
In the initial announcement, the four established titles were: Castlevania, Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge, Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse, and Super Castlevania 4. Today, Konami revealed that the rest of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection roster would include classics such as Castlevania The Adventure, Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania Bloodlines, and Kid Dracula.
The inclusion of Kid Dracula is especially interesting, as the game received a sequel that was released in North America, yet the original game was only available in Japan. This will be a great chance for western Castlevania fans to play a previously inaccessible franchise game!
The Castlevania Anniversary Collection will be available to play on May 16th, following the release of Konami’s Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection today. The latter will include the Castlevania spinoff, Haunted Mansion, along with plenty of other classics.
