Today it was revealed that Jason West, the co-founder of Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment, has been hired by Epic Games. The information was supplied by a tweet made by veteran gaming journalist Geoff Keighley. Keighley stated that West was “quietly” hired by Epic Games, and that he had been working from their office for “about a month.”
Jason West co-founded Infinity Ward along with Vince Zampella, where they went on to create the Call of Duty and Modern Warfare franchises. The two left Infinity Ward after a dispute with Activision, which ended with a strictly confidential settlement.
Once West and Zampella left Infinity Ward, they co-founded Respawn Entertainment, which is the studio behind hit games such as Titanfall and Apex Legends. West left Zampella in charge of Respawn in 2013, and it was not made clear where his next work would be.
This will be the first gaming project that Jason West will be a part of since his departure from Respawn Entertainment. However, there has been no confirmation from Epic Games regarding what kind of work West has been, and will be, doing for them. It is not clear if he is working directly with Fortnite, or another Epic Games project.
