The official launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 was released, and it features content sure to excite old and new fans alike. Within the trailer, the classic “Mortal Kombat” theme music from the live-action movies plays, while the game’s usual gore-fest is showcased.
The latest trailer reveals details for the story mode of Mortal Kombat 11, which looks like quite the mashup of campy time-travel and relentless action. The plot appears to focus on the antagonist Kronika, the Keeper of Time, as she attempts to restart history by going back in time. The cast must fight through time in order to stop her and restore order to the universe.
There is plenty of fanfare to be found within this new trailer, such as a fight with the infamous Mortal Kombat antagonist, Shao Kahn in his classic Coliseum stage. There is also a scene with the original rivals, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, fighting together against the cyborg Cyrax. Also, since it deserves to be mentioned twice: Techno Syndrome, the Mortal Kombat theme song from the 1995 film is featured throughout the entire trailer.
I personally cannot wait to see more of Ermac, as he has always been my favorite fighter.
Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on April 23 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Shao Kahn is also available as a playable character if you pre-order the game.
