E3 2019 is finally upon us at long last which means that it is time for our annual E3 predictions article! Some of these predictions come out of left field and may never happen, but some are spot on and end up being announced just prior to the big show, or at the time of publication! In either case, we can’t wait to give you guys the latest and greatest info when it comes to E3 this year as we’ll be attending the show giving you up to the minute wall to wall coverage! So without further ado, let’s jump on the hype train and get on with our E3 2019 predictions!

Albert Perkins

Even though PlayStation won’t be at E3 this year, they will most certainly have a presence with upcoming games. Death Stranding on the horizon now officially confirmed to be coming this November, and The Last Of Us Part 2 is on the way as well. But as far as E3 2019 predictions, I think we can obviously expect to see the next Xbox reveal with a full lineup of Xbox games. I predict that Xbox will sell the console for $499.99 USD and it will be available this holiday season with a release date sometime this November.

Nintendo will give us an update on Metroid since it was announced that the game was delayed earlier this year. I predict that we’ll be shown off a brand new trailer for the game, but no release date will be given yet, as it probably still has a lot of work to be done at this point. I also believe a new Mario game is on the horizon as well for the Nintendo Switch and I would expect to see that announced this year too.

With only a few years left with the current console leader, Sony’s PlayStation 4, I think we’ll get to hear about some other upcoming hardware pieces that are soon to be entering the market. Whether this is a new Xbox or a pro version of the Nintendo Switch, I think we’ll see a lot of hints at the new devices. Nintendo has made it clear they are happy with the Switch as of now, but I think history will repeat itself and we’ll get a powerfully upgraded Switch; that’ll hopefully bring some awesome new features!

As for games, I think Bethesda will finally give us an idea of what to expect for Elder Scrolls 6, and hopefully not Skyrim for mobile phones. With Netflix hosting a panel on video games they hope to bring to the market, I think we might hear some more about that over at Nintendo’s booths and panels. Nintendo has expressed that they want more 3rd party titles, and who better than Netflix? On the Microsoft side of things, we might even hear about a Mario title, since they’ve been so friendly with Nintendo lately!

GDC 2019 was all about game streaming. We heard about projects such as Google’s Stadia, and Apple’s Arcade. I believe we’re going to see and hear a lot more about streaming. Nintendo and Microsoft have already announced an upcoming app for the Switch that will allow players to stream Xbox and some PC games, so long as they have an NSO subscription. Microsoft has also stated they will be bringing similar apps to PC and other consoles in the future. With Netflix announcing they will be at this year’s E3, and also being the kings of video streaming, it would not surprise me if they announced a partnership with developers to bring their own game streaming service to the party.

Big N will give us more Super Mario Maker 2, and no doubt there’s going to be more info on Pokemon Gen 8. We’re going to get another trailer and some monster reveals. I don’t think we’ll be getting a new Zelda soon. They’ve already confirmed that Platinum Games will be around with Astral Chain, and possibly more info on Bayonetta 3.
