Sony just had their State of Play for the month of May 2019, stating that they had planned a nice “short and sweet” showcase for us. With only bits and pieces of info given to us, we got a look at some of the amazing titles coming to PlayStation, including a sneak peek at a Limited Edition PS4!
The event started off with a beautiful look at the upcoming Monster Hunter World expansion, Iceborne. The clip showed off some of the new snow location, with an old fan favorite; the Popo! Additionally, a beautiful herbivore herd species, that look strikingly like wooly mammoths, was also shown. We also got a quick look at some of the new monsters coming to Monster Hunter World. The clip showed off brand new monsters for the title, and even an old face everyone has been hoping for; the swift wyvern, Nargacuga! Monster Hunter Iceborne will launch September 9th on PS4 and Xbox One with a PC launch later.
The event continued with a look at Riverbond, an upcoming dungeon crawler by Cococucumber. With voxel style graphics and 4 player couch co-op, it looks like this game will bring lots of fun to the couch! With promises of cross over skins, like Shovel Knight and Juan from Guacamelee, Riverbond shows signs of being the next Overcooked.
One of the quickest glances we got, was of Predator: Hunting Grounds. Coming next year, this online asymmetrical player versus player game promises to deliver some intense gameplay. Predator: Hunting Grounds is being developed by IllFonic, developers of the cult-hit Friday the 13th. Mabe the next State of Play will give us more info on this exciting game.
For lovers of the classics, Sony also gave an update on the remake of MediEvil. The 1998 classic will be coming to PlayStation 4 on October 25th for all to relive a beautiful masterpiece. Twenty-one years later, will MediEvil stand the test of time?
Another promising title promoted, is Away, a survival story of a flying squirrel surviving predators and natural disasters. A gorgeous game, that shows signs of being a heartfelt story of hope and adventure.
Sony’s annual Days of Play is also giving us a Limited Edition steel PlayStation 4. The stunning system hosts a steel casing and a steel controller. Keep in mind; this is the standard PS4 and not a Pro model. No pricing was announced, but with Days of Play set to start next month, we should learn more soon.
The long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake got a new look with a stunning trailer. The game has gone through a lot of development troubles since its announcement in 2015. The game was originally set to be developed by CyberConnect2, Square took the game in-house in 2017. With Kingdom Hearts III finished, it looks like Square can focus on the remake. No release date was announced, but another look was promised in June.
We can only look forward to the next State of Play! Until then, keep it locked to Mammoth Gamers for all your PlayStation news!
