With E3 right around the corner, the anticipation begins to build upon what we may or may not see during the video game industry’s biggest week. We at Mammoth Gamers have the dates marked on our calendar and are counting down the days until the big event. So we thought wouldn’t it be great to create an article based on our predictions and see how close we are to our predictions once the event occurs! So without further ado, here are the Mammoth Gamers Staff predictions’ for the upcoming event! We hope you enjoy this article as much as we enjoyed making our E3 2015 predictions!
Project Morpheus – Can they have my money now!? With more and more headlines with Project Morpheus in it, and games announcing compatibility with it like Uncharted 4 and ARK: Survival Evolved, all it is missing is a release date. Virtual reality, in my mind, is the future of gaming. It is going to revolutionize the gaming industry and needs to happen NOW!! I believe that Project Morpheus will be announced either the holiday season this year or early next year.
Uncharted 4 – A year after being announced, and a push back on the release, Naughty Dog has gotta bring SOMETHING to the table at E3. Preferably an actual release date for Uncharted 4. Naughty Dog hasn’t been quiet at E3 events in the past, and I would hate for them to start now. Also, after it was announced that Uncharted 4 will be compatible with Project Morpheus, AND that it is going to look wayyyyy better than The Last of Us (now that is saying something!) it is only right to give everyone a date so they can enjoy this greatness! However I think that Uncharted 4 will be released after Project Morpheus, so maybe around the Summer of 2016.
Santa Monica Studios – Santa Monica Studios have been giving their fans what they have wanted over the years, including the remastered edition of God of War III. But what is next for this company? Will they bring out yet another God of War? Or will they begin a new IP? With the God of War series being arguably the best hack and slash series of all-time, can they match or make something greater? I hope we will find out this E3. My money is on a new IP.
Resident Evil 7 – Gimme gimme gimme! Everyone says that Resident Evil 4 was the best Resident Evil of all-time. Then began the steroid Chris Era…WHY?!?!?! Now I love every Resident Evil Game, absolutely love them with nothing bad to say about them (except for the new Chris Redfield who ate the old one) and I want Resident Evil 7! After the criticism from RE5, CAPCOM brought back some of the horror aspect in RE6 which I enjoyed greatly. With CAPCOM going in this direction, I really hope that if they announce RE7, they cut Chris’s body size in half, and also PLEASE BRING BACK ALBERT WESKER! Wesker is hands down my favorite video game character of all-time and he needs to be brought back. And also make it all horror please! I think it will be announced and possibly a release late in 2016.
I’m predicting that Bethesda will announce a long awaited Fallout game for next-gen consoles and PC. I’m willing to bet that it will not be called Fallout 4, but will be a continuation of the Fallout 3 time line.
The story will be based out of Massachusetts as has long been rumored, but only references to Boston will be made in the bulk the game. Similiar how you could get to The White House is Fallout 3 but not really do anything outside of get radiated for being too close and look at it from afar. The MBTA transit system will be hinted at or shown outright in a display of retro styled marketing materials for the game.
I’m putting all my eggs into the basket that the game will play out in Western Massachusetts, a location that is not densely populated but can play out on the states natural landscape. Perfect for exploring open fields with just enough dilapidated houses to make ruins worth digging through. I’m predicting that this Fallout title will also introduce the first ever main character voice overs and offer a drop-in, drop-out, cooperative mechanic that will allow Wastelanders to aid each other and barter goods.
Besthesda will come out swinging this year by announcing Dishonored 2 and the long awaited Fallout 4.
EA will give Bioware fanatics a bigger tease of Mass Effect 4 and perhaps boast more Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC.
Ubisoft will continue to destroy gamer’s hearts by showing off the next buggy Assassin’s Creed title instead of offering any trailers or hope for The Division. I secretly hope Aisha Tyler jumps up on stage to tell us we just got punked and The Division will release at the end of this year.
Sony will hopefully announce more information on group chat features with Oovoo application as well as PlayStation Plus and Powers series updates. I’m hopeful for more exclusive games and original IP announcements, but Uncharted 4 and God of War are probably the most likely candidates. Then queue the awkward moment when the conference ends and there’s still no mentions of The Last Guardian.
It’s hard to believe it’s time for E3 once again! My favorite time of the year in this industry. The news is fast and furious and I think that’ll be the cards again for 2015 with a few surprises.
Sony – As Dale mentioned, Project Morpheus is going to be the forefront of discussion. There were reports from IGN this week that the release window may have been leaked and with the expo right around the corner, I’d be willing to bet it’s accurate. Look for Project Morpheus to get a solid 2016 release window in Q1.
The PlayStation 4 hasn’t received a price cut yet. I think it’s time. I predict a price cut for gaming’s biggest selling console. Gran Turismo 7 will be announced and the game will incorporate Project Morpheus exclusively. The game will launch in Q1 2016.
Microsoft – The Xbox One will get a temporary price cut similar to what they did last year. Kinect technology will be discussed and somehow the tech will be pushed to the next level. Did someone say Mass Effect? Look for this game to launch timed exclusively on the Xbox One with an official announcement at E3.
Finally, a new Gears Of War game is coming and will launch sometime Q1 2016.
YouTube – Google will make an announcement that YouTube will officially open up video game live streaming channels to compete with Twitch.
Nintendo – The Big N still has some tricks up their sleeves. Look for a new Punch Out! game for the Wii U and 3DS with the game being released Q4 2015. Details about Zelda will be sparse and that will be everyone’s biggest gripe. Look for a Star Fox to make an appearance though with a release for Q4 2015. Mario Maker will be the stage host with demos and more driving the crowd wild.
We haven’t seen Samus in awhile. Could it be time for her next adventure? Look for a new Metroid game coming sometime in 2016. And finally, Nintendo will announce their new system set to replace the Nintendo Club!
SwiftSh0t – Justin Brunelle
With the announcement that they are getting their own press conference the world is on the edge of their seat, waiting for the Fallout 4 announcement. Unfortunately this is a troll act to get people tuned in and they won’t announce anything for Fallout 4.
What’s Rare’s big announcement? Is it Battletoads, is it Banjo Kazooie, maybe Perfect Dark Zero 2…….please don’t. As much as the fan in me would love to see Banjo Kazooie it’s too close to the hype of Yooka Laylee and it’s far more likely that it’s Battletoads, or something to do with Killer Instinct. The bombshell of the event will be a new GoW announcement after a look at next gen HD remakes.
Last Guardian gets a release date for PS4. Mic drops.
We get to see plenty of stuff for upcoming titles and a great new look at Starfox. Oh, wait, what’s that? Is that a new Metroid? Hell yeah it is, and now I need new pants.
EA & Ubisoft:
Unless Ubisoft is going to tell me there’s a new Rayman game coming out. I have no interest in hearing about Assassin’s Creed 12 and Madden 27 now with the ability to choose what color Gatorade your team can drink.
With E3 right around the corner, many people are speculating as to what will be coming out! Here are my predictions for the upcoming electronics convention:
Sony will be releasing the ever speculated, “Project Morpheus” and will be doing so in great style. Be ready for some amazing scenery, cool fighting games, and a couple of roller coaster simulators to help showcase what this thing can do. I wish that we would see a game like Skyrim come out with such a cool device but I have a feeling the device will come out with some strange yet fun companion games to help introduce it. Be on the lookout for it the Holiday season of 2016.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will finally have a release date. The over hyped Disney RPG has been ogled over ever since they had released a snipit of what the game looked like. Be ready for a brand new Star Wars planet as well, which will defiantly make people Ooo and Awwww. I think was will see Sora and the gang on the PS4 and Xbox One but I feel like, once again, Sony will take the cake and have exclusive content and DLC just for them.
Fallout 4: Boston will be announced to be released this Fall. With a gameplay trailer and tons of promotion, this will be the biggest game announcement at E3. People have been waiting for this game for quite some time and with the next generation systems in play, this game will be big and it will be beautiful.
One last prediction for me would be out of left field but! I see the announcement of Destiny 2 or the next major expansion for the game. Coming out in the late fall, we will see an update to this game that no game has seen the likes of before. It will essentially be a whole new game and potentially will introduce new planets, new guardians and new enemies. I feel like with the release and success of House of Wolves, Bungie will take its platform to announce its next upcoming steps in the Destiny franchise.
