PlayStation 4 Elite Controller Revealed At Target [Update Removed]

Update:  It appears Target has removed the link for the PlayStation 4 Elite Controller.

Original Story:  A recent posting on Target.com has a new PlayStation 4 Elite controller available for preorder. Similar to the Xbox Elite controller, the PS4 Elite controller gives the player the ability to change the function of certain buttons and control the layout to their game. Allowing the player to make game controls work for them instead of the other way around.

As you can see from this image the controller has a bit of a more curved design. The handles are made of a rubberized grip for a more comfortable gaming experience. The joysticks have also been redesigned but the customization of the controller will allow you to change them with the different joystick heads included in the box.

Similar to the Xbox Elite, the back of the controller has the new paddles for even more controller customization. These paddles are easily attached and removed with magnetic connectors. The paddles will allow you to map action buttons to them so to keep your thumbs on the joysticks.

According to the listing, the controller is scheduled to be released on November 1st for $79.99.  Be sure to follow Mammoth Gamers on Twitter & Facebook for all your PlayStation news.

Editor’s Note:  To avoid confusion, it should be noted that this appears to be a third party controller and not made directly from Sony.

    i love the convex sticks.

    Sony copying MS yet again.

    • NinoBr0wn

It’s not made by Sony, genius. And “again?” lol..

      • spideynut71

        SONY…
        copied XBL with PSN
        copied XBLG with PS+
        copied Achievements with Trophies
        copied XB Guide with XMB
copied MS Sidewinder Freestyle Pro with Sixaxis …just to name a few.

        • NinoBr0wn

Copied XBL with PSN? haha it’s an online service for their platform. What would you expect? No service at all?

Actually Microsoft got games with gold from PS+ as that’s been around for years.

Thousands of people asked for trophies, so Sony gave it to them. It’s called meeting customer demand.

XMB, again, please understand how software design works and why certain things are expected and necessary.

Sidewinder lmao you are reaching just for the hell of it. I’m glad I just enjoy games no matter where they come from. That cheerleader thing is embarrassing.

          • spideynut71

1.) That’s what Sony did for years…devs had to coordinate online themselves, as Sony didn’t always have PSN. That’s why there were far more MP games on OG XBOX than on PS2 ; SOCOM was pretty much it for a legit MP experience on PS2.
2.) Um….XBLG is the premium XBL online service that MS launched in 2002 ; the G stands for GOLD, as opposed to the free Silver. GWG is just the free games/deals that comes with XBLG, since 2014.
3.) Sure Sony fans asked for trophies…because they saw how cool Achievements were on the 360. That doesn’t change the fact that MS did it first, and without waiting for fans begging for them.
4.) XMB and other OS functions on PS3 and PS4 were all copied from early Windows Media Center UI and later the 360 UI. At launch, the PS3 home screen was a barren, boring mess, and only slowly grew into what the PS4 now has. MS has hands-down the best console OS and UI, plus a far superior update/patch delivery system and schedule.
5.) Sure Sidewinder was a long time ago, which made it all the more lame when Sony first showed off the Sixaxis like it was some amazing new tech they invented.

And if you’re not a “cheerleader”, you must be the captain of the SONY Defense Force Cheer Squad.

          • NinoBr0wn

So you’re talking about the PS2 infrastructure? With the modem attachment? Before online gaming on consoles was even really a thing? Sure, Xbox Live was the first unified gaming service for consoles. Do you think it at all realistic that Sony wouldn’t have the same, given how gaming has evolved?

Yes, that’s my point. Games With Gold “copied” PlayStation Plus. That’s the whole basis of your argument, right?

You’re not the first person to throw these copy complaints around, but you’re confusing copy and pasting with general technology trends and responding to the market. You take a look around at literally any technology available, and all companies use the same ideas in their products. It’s about how it gets applied. That’s how things work. Otherwise, you get left behind. Remember how the whole Xbox One launch went? Yea. That was responding to the market.

Don’t remember how Bill Gates said Blu-Ray drives, built-in Wifi, and large hard drives weren’t feasible for gaming systems when PS3 launched? Look where we are today. What about dual analog sticks? Communities? Oh yea they got around to removing the pay wall for streaming services like Netflix too.

At the end of the day, who freakin cares as long as they all provide us with a good gaming experience. They all just want our money anyway. Why bother putting any energy into these silly my dad can beat up your dad nonsense.

          • Chris Bajorski

Dude the ps did copy the xbox live subscription service lmao… how many ps fanboys lol’d at me for paying to play games online.. and i lol’d when ps got hacked…. sony copied move controller, rubble, analog sticks and even tried making L2 and R2 into triggers lmao terrible…. the only thing ms did was start the games for gold after sony kept it after losing their ass after the hack. Sony… they only take features away… oh man was the ps3 the worst console experience… anyone remember the ps home with the ripped off mii/avatars lmao.

          • NinoBr0wn

Lmao lol lol lmao did you actually read anything I said or is it too much fun playing the fanboy game?

          • Chris Bajorski

oh i did read it… and i was clarifiying certain points like xblg vs games for gold being 2 different things… but the majority of my comment was @spideynut71. if he wants to point out sony firsts….. then he needs to choose wisely lol.. wants to point out that ps3 was first with wifi never mind the fact that a week seperated and wii had wifi also… Some people talk about the console wars… some talk about the fact that they want quality games….. Now we have underpowered and over priced consoles with crap games. that is all im saying.

          • Guy

The ps2 had online gameplay before xbox. Microsoft copied ps by making a console…..

          • Chris Bajorski

ps2 online was weak at best…..

          • Guy

But it was the first. all online play that generation was weak until the ps3

          • Chris Bajorski

UM no Dreamcast was the first to fully support online play out of the box. and the ps3 was weak as hell in online play… xbox live is what made online play what it is today.. proof is in the fact that all 3 companys are now charging for subs.

          • Delusionalfanboys

You know Sega had Segenet way before XBox Live. MS made it a success but wasn’t the 1st to do online gaming.

          • Delusionalfanboys

Sony did it 1st in the console department.

            Ps1 CD player
            PS2 DVD player
            PS3 Wifi and Blu Ray
            PS4 DDR5 GPU.

Thank Sony for all your XBox consoles. Microsoft copied a lot from Playstation consoles.

          • Chris Bajorski

did you forget about sega cd, neo geo cd, turbo grafics cd? please…… dvd was going to be the next no matter who did the next console…. sony didnt revolutionize gaming with wifi lol or bluray…

If anything blu ray did was prove they needed to find a new media because read and write times are atrocious!

Blu ray also only exists becasue sony payed off hollywood to use it……..

          • Delusionalfanboys

Yeah I’m sure Sony paid off holloywood, lol. But yeah if forgot about those other fail consoles. Sony popularized using a CD player in a console. The audio CD features were far superior than Sega CD or Neo Geo CD.

          • Chris Bajorski

it is a fact that sony payed off hollywood to win the hd medium war. its not made up anymore… pull your head out of sonys ass.

          • Delusionalfanboys

Since you have all sorts of rebuttals. Rebuttal this “HDMI” ,Sony brought that to console gaming. Come on dude Sony basically saved console gaming by evolving systems.

          • Chris Bajorski

i havent looked in a long time… but you are self admittedly delusional… how did sony save a console market that wasnt in any real danger lol. HDMI was not a sony invetion and was destined to become a part of all electronics that connect to an hd display… tv manufacturers brought hdmi to consoles… not sony.

          • Chris Bajorski

if you are going to point out sony stuff get it right.. ps1 wasnt the first cd gaming device…… ps2 was good but not many firsts there…. yea dvd gamecube also had a type of dvd…. so did xbox. you know that natural progression thing lol… The only thing ps3 brought to the table was sonys bluray with really really slow read speeds and mandatory installs…. how many features did they remove? PS4 you cant even get that one right and its the newest…. The PS4 uses GDDR5 NOT DDR5. there is no such thing as DDR5 as DDR4 has recently taken over the market! Sony has stolen more than any other company.

          • Delusionalfanboys

I edited abd corrected my post. Now did I say anything about how slow anything was ?, no. No one was buying DVDs on GameCube, lmfao.

          • Chris Bajorski

Gamecube? nintendo went with their medium because of worries about piracy. what sony did do was allow for hdd expansion on a very basic level. ps2 online was terrible with only select titles avail for online play. wiping half your ass and saving the rest for later is not revolutionizing or pushing any envelope anywhere.

          • Bilal Prince-Ali

are you like 11 years old..? lool

        • Guy

Nonsense. PS+ was out before xbg. And ps4 is superior to you microcock anyway

          • spideynut71

LOL….um, XBLGold was launched in 2002 you jackhole.

          • Guy

Ok arsewipe…. ps2 came before the xbox. 1 year infact. And to coincide with the release of xbox ps launched ps2 online. Ps2 online was available in july 2001. A full year before microcock in japan and eu and 2 months ahead in the US. See my ref below. Stop drinking the koolaid. Which later became psn. Psn was free until the ps4 release where it became ps plus. So microcock fanboys have no claim over network play on consoles. Dreamcast had it too. So enjoy pretending your microcock console is pleasing you.

Ill be having fun over at psn.

Google below addy. May not work as i had to type it.
            http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/08/15/sony_confirms_ps2_online_plans/

Japan had online 1 year before xbox. And 2months before US.

          • spideynut71

You have the comprehension skills of a 4 y.o.

XBLGold is a premium (paid) online service, which includes access to MP gaming, movie/music/games content, special events, etc . The online component of the PS2 was nothing more than a means for updates and online MP for the PS2 games that supported the feature (most notably SOCOM). There WAS NOT a premium service like XBLG until Sony launched PS+ on PS3. PSN have features that weren’t completely free, but for the most part it was, until Sony finally realized how dumb it was to lose out on the billions MS had been making off XBLG for years.

          • Guy

Xbox never had that at the time of the ps2. the ps3 had it free and even gave away free games when PSN became mainstream long before XBOX live. Anyway, the ps4 destroyed xbox one. Get over it…

  • Cheesesteakwit

Did Microsoft make this for Sony cause it looks like the Xbox elite controller same color and same box lolololol

  • Cheesesteakwit

Now all the Sony fans can thank Microsoft. So don’t talk shit on MS cause they make ur best controller

    • NinoBr0wn

The Elite is more or less the same, albeit refined Scuf controller I been using for a few years. If anything, thank Microsoft for recognizing Scuf;s success and bringing it to the mainstream.

    • Delusionalfanboys

      Microsoft copied scuf.

      • Matt2005usaf

MS had Scuf make the Elite controller…

        • Delusionalfanboys

They paid to use patents from Scuf. Scuf didn’t make the elite for Microsoft. There for Microsoft copied Scuf controllers.

  • Shawn

This looks kinda cool. Might get it.

  • Ricardo Jackson

80 dollars compare to the 130-150. Can’t say this is an official elite controller by Sony but it does undercut the Xbox controller in terms of price.

    • DavidB

Not quite sure how you can say it isn’t “an official elite controller”?

      • Ricardo Jackson

What I’m saying is that it’s not an official licensed Sony PlayStation controller. This is more of a third party controller made for the ps4.

        • DavidB

Well the official Elite controller for Xbox isn’t made by Microsoft, it’s made by Scuf, just like this one for PS4.

      • Matúš Mättin Nickel

Because there’s nowhere any SONY sign on box, or missing PS logo on center button? Or maybe because sony didn’t announce anything like this? It’s fake or it’s 3rd party accessories.

        • DavidB

How does that make it not an offical elite controller? Maybe it’s cheaper than the elite for xbox precisely BECAUSE Scuf isn’t paying Sony the licensing fees to include PS logo on it?

          • Matúš Mättin Nickel

You reply to yourself. If there’s no Sony or PS logo on it, then it’s not official. There’re lot of 3rd party controllers, this is just one of them…

  • Truthseeker

Too bad is not real, handy photo shop. If you want to see a real product that turns your ps4 controller check this newly announced product out – http://m.gamestop.com/product/ps4/accessories/ps4-strike-pack-fps-dominator-controller-mod-pack-adapter/133887

  • Jerry Flowers

FAKE. The sticks arn’t even the same on the first image and the box. Also the controller on the box doesn’t look aligned. Not to mention too much of this are staight up from the xbox controller. Not even a nice try.

    • Then how is it it works with the Xbox Elite controller accessories?

And not fake. Target is taking pre-orders.

  • RancidHeart

Oh my God! Why did i read the comments. The people are children. Get back in your seats children. No more talking.
