Studio MDHR, the developers behind the highly acclaimed Cuphead, has announced that the indie darling has sold over three million copies since its release last year.
It’s been a long journey for Cuphead, which has been shown at multiple Microsoft E3 press conferences. Cuphead was praised for its notorious difficulty and fantastic art style, inspired by old cartoons from the 1930s. The game faced skepticism for its boss rush structure, leading to delays to spend time on additional 2D platforming sections.
Cuphead was highly rated when it first released back in September, reaching one million within weeks and then two million not long after. To celebrate this wonderful milestone, Cuphead is receiving a 20% discount on Steam and Xbox until tomorrow. So if you don’t already have this game, be sure not to miss this great deal. Studio MDHR has also teased “some extra-special giveaways” over the next few days, that will be announced on its Twitter and Facebook page.
But this is not the end for Cuphead; at E3, a new DLC expansion, The Delicious Last Course, was announced for the game with a third playable character, Ms. Chalice, and new bosses scheduled for release in 2019. You can check out the trailer below:
